You should see the pictures!
At First Wesleyan Church we have a great team of people that teach our children about the Lord. This Sunday, I had Eh Htoo our Burmese photographer take a number of pictures of the children in their Sunday school rooms. For safety sake, I will not put the pictures of the children on this blog. However, I will post pictures of the teachers and you will need to imagine the children. Better yet you need to go and visit some of these classes and learn about this exciting work in our church.
When Kay and I looked at the classroom pictures we saw about 1/3 of the children are Burmese or Lao. Having a multi-ethnic Sunday school has been a challenge but Sheri Jennings and Shana Dulin have led a great group of volunteers through the process and they are ministering weekly with all the children of our church from 9:30 to 10:15 AM. We weren’t able to get pictures of all the children’s workers but this gives you a sampling of those that God has led to be involved in this weekly ministry for the kingdom. Joe Stallings, recently returned from Zambia, has told me he feels like he is able to do mission ministry in his Sunday school class with Ed. Carolyn Winslow has taken the time to learn the full family names of each of her students and has tracked some who are now studying at colleges and universities. Patti Haley not only works with the children but was able to help a mother needing physical therapy from hip surgery.Pastor Inthava would like to invite you to become involved in ministry with the children of our church and/or with some of the newly arrived Burmese families. Please call him at the church office to see how you can be involved.
