It’s that time of the year when the spiders come out in my yard.   Each fall I see generations of this spider show up in my yard.   Yesterday when Peng Len [Pang Lang] and Nu Nu were visiting, I pointed out one of these spiders to Peng Len.  He told me that in the Chin state of Burma the people eat spiders like this.  He said they will create a fire that has some hot coals and then roast the spiders and eat them (minus the legs).  I asked him if he had eaten any and what was their taste.  He said “They taste like bird”.

We went on to talk about my having eaten porcupine and about how enjoyable frogs legs are to the pallette.  He said that the Thai people enjoy eating the red ants.  They use the ant eggs as fishing bait.

Jesus is first and foremost in my life. He is above all religions, principalities and powers. In everything He must increase and I must decrease. Into the hands of Jesus, God has placed life and death, truth and purity. strength and meaning. Only in a growing understanding of the triune God, and his son Jesus can I do, breathe, exist and serve. I have a Bachelor's degree in Bible from Vennard College, a Master's in Social Science from Azusa Pacific University and a Ph. D. from Ohio State in Family Relations and Human Development. I am an ordained pastor involved in cross-cultural ministry. I am currently employed at several colleges as an instructor.
