According to my father
On Sunday we studied the passage in Mark 10 where James and John asked Jesus if they could sit on his right and left hand in heaven. They set their query up with an impetuous question: “Jesus will you do for us whatever we ask?’ I was trying to teach my Burmese class about this when I learned through Klo Say. Klo Say said that if his son Nelson were asking such a question he would correct him to phrase it something like this, “Will you do whatever I ask if it is according to your way father?. In their culture the children are taught to ask their father’s direction and wish. Klo Say brought the lesson home to our class that in the same way we need to pray to God the Father that things be according to His way.
