Pray for the people of Burma

Please pray for the citizens of Burma, particularly the minority Christians who are fleeing the country due to religious persecution.  Voice of the Martyrs, led by my friend Tom White, lists Burma as a restricted nation in their monthly newsletter.  They cite an article in The Telegraph that details the harrassment Christians are facing in the country.  Click here to see a video about brave preachers of Burma.

While we work with arriving refugees to get settled in the United States we need to remember their families and friends who still remain in precarious and difficult circumstances in their home country.  The Burmese government wants to create a uniform society of one language, one ethnicity and one religion.  The imposition of this agenda on such a varied population and geographically isolated people, is leaving casualties, grief and displaced people.  Our hope for this country has to be in the name of the Lord.

For more information, read the Burmese synopsis given on the International Christian Concern website.   Also check out these links with Christian Solidarity Worldwide and here is a second Christian Solidarity report on Burma.   Pray for the Burmese!

About johnmcmurphy

Jesus is first and foremost in my life. He is above all religions, principalities and powers. In everything He must increase and I must decrease. Into the hands of Jesus, God has placed life and death, truth and purity. strength and meaning. Only in a growing understanding of the triune God, and his son Jesus can I do, breathe, exist and serve. I have a Bachelor's degree in Bible from Vennard College, a Master's in Social Science from Azusa Pacific University and a Ph. D. from Ohio State in Family Relations and Human Development. I am an ordained pastor involved in cross-cultural ministry. I am currently employed at several colleges as an instructor. If you need to get in touch with me, just leave a comment, I screen all comments and so you can leave further contact information which I will erase before it is published. -John
