The rest of the Stories

img_3454aThis is an update on some posts from the last two months.   Than Hla [Thon La] is the Burmese widow that arrived in Austin, TX about 4 months ago.  Her sister and brother-in-law (Eh Le Say) lived here.   You can read more about that on this link to the previous post.  Than Hla’s and her two boys live with her sisters family now in the William and Mary apartments on Hamilton Street.  The younger son (Sa Nay Maung Maung) is going to Northwood Elementary and the older son (Naing Soe), is going to the NewComers school.   Than Hla plans to start attending GTCC next term where she will study ESL.  They are actively involved at our church.

Be sure and check out the pictures Carolyn Winslow sent me about the party she held for the girls a few weeks ago.

The other story I would like to update is the arrival of Biak’s wife.   Her name is Dawt Thar Par but she says just call her “Ap Ar”.  She has been here about a week.   They have spent this first week getting resettled into a different apartment. They now live in the William and Mary apartments.   Biak has a regular job at a manufacturing plant in Kernersville on the night shift.  He is also the leader of the fast growing Burmese children’s Sunday school class at First Wesleyan Church.biak-and-his-wife-dawt-other-burmese-class-photos-002

About johnmcmurphy

Jesus is first and foremost in my life. He is above all religions, principalities and powers. In everything He must increase and I must decrease. Into the hands of Jesus, God has placed life and death, truth and purity. strength and meaning. Only in a growing understanding of the triune God, and his son Jesus can I do, breathe, exist and serve. I have a Bachelor's degree in Bible from Vennard College, a Master's in Social Science from Azusa Pacific University and a Ph. D. from Ohio State in Family Relations and Human Development. I am an ordained pastor involved in cross-cultural ministry. I am currently employed at several colleges as an instructor. If you need to get in touch with me, just leave a comment, I screen all comments and so you can leave further contact information which I will erase before it is published. -John
