He Delights in the Details of our Life

I have probably heard that God delights in joining with us in the day-to-day details of our lives on other occasions.  But this Sunday when Pastor Rick shared this while preaching it really “clicked”.   He noted how some Christians think of God as a stern school master ready to rap us on the knuckles or the back of our head but instead the Scriptures teach us that God is so in love with us that He is just interested in us and the things that are happening to us.

I think I have become able to see this in a new light as I visit and involve myself with a number of the Burmese folks attending our church.   I am delighted to meet them when they first arrive, then they begin to learn American ways, and attend ESL classes.  Later it is great to watch the progression as these folks get jobs, begin to be self-sufficient and learn to drive.  I want to encourage them and celebrate their successes and pray with them in their difficulties.  I guess I am learning what God is like as I begin to serve with these new found friends from Burma.

Jesus is first and foremost in my life. He is above all religions, principalities and powers. In everything He must increase and I must decrease. Into the hands of Jesus, God has placed life and death, truth and purity. strength and meaning. Only in a growing understanding of the triune God, and his son Jesus can I do, breathe, exist and serve. I have a Bachelor's degree in Bible from Vennard College, a Master's in Social Science from Azusa Pacific University and a Ph. D. from Ohio State in Family Relations and Human Development. I am an ordained pastor involved in cross-cultural ministry. I am currently employed at several colleges as an instructor.
