Oh, What a Day!
Yesterday some of the people of First Wesleyan threw a fantastic party for the Burmese. What a way to celebrate the coming of Jesus to earth.
The Sunday morning started with a group of caroling Burmese who toured through the four American Sunday school classes for a Christmas sing-a-long. Then the Lao congregation had a musical extravaganza featuring various ensembles and soloists lifting praises to God. The children participated, young adult groups sang and gifts were given out through out the morning.
As noon approached Sherri Jennings had organized a group of Americans interested and involved with the Burmese, along with the Lao to bring in lots of food. What a feast, there was plenty of food with some to spare. We must have had 200 (counting the babies) in the room for a sitdown lunch. For a couple of weeks Sherri had a team of people working on packets of Christmas presents for our who congregation. So several of us got to be Santa, delivering the gifts to families and single adults.
