“God’s angel stood among them and God’s glory blazed around them. They were terrified”.
Opened my eyes that I might see…”
This refrain from a contemporary worship chorus has been echoing through my mind since last night. Our sons with their families were spending time with us for the holidays. We decided to go to Greensboro to look at a Christmas light display Kay had heard about. We have never seen anything like it in our lives. Here is a link to a photo stream. (You can find these lights at Friendly Avenue and Greenway Street in Greensboro, NC).
This coupled with several trips Kay and I made to the Archdale Christmas lights with some of our Burmese families has put my focus on light. They say that the absence of darkness is the presence of light. Scientists have estimated the energy of the sun, its heat, intensity, and power. They have worked on creating a controlled fusion. They have harnessed electricity after observing lightening strikes for years.
But the Creator is the source of light, God can harness a bolt of sun power and ride it across the stretches of the galaxy and guide it to reflect the falling stars of summer evenings. The spectrum of light that we use on this earth, the Aurora Borealis (we can see in the far northern reaches of our world) do not do justice to the Source of light and His capabilites. So here we are at Christmas, at just the right time God sent his Son to this world to become light. Amazing! Outstanding! Brilliant!
