Today in our Sunday Bible study for english speaking Burmese, we were studying Mark Chapter 13 where Christ prophecies the future for the Jewish people and further the events at the end of the world as we know it.  In the course of our studies we talked about the early Christian disporia after Stephen was martyred and further flight during the times of Roman persecution.  As the Christians left the holy land to scatter across the world they became lights for the gospel in many lands.

Our Bible study class made up of dispersed Burmese find that their relatives may be in Japan, Australia or Europe as well as across America.  One of the things I note is that in all this persecution in Burma, Christians and others have had to flee to places where they might share the gospel or arrive at places where they might first hear the gospel.  Even though Adoniram Judson began Christian ministry in Burma in the late 1700’s the country remains 85% Buddhist to this day.  However now the Christians are arriving in settings where they can use the internet and phone cards to talk to their friends (here and abroad) about Jesus from the safe havens of America and other Christian countries.  A case in point is Al Ream.  She is a 74 year old Chin lady, that is constantly praying for her people.  This weekend she traveled from Indiana to High Point to visit, pray for and spiritually challenge the Burmese people of the Triad.   I was honored to meet this saint of the Lord who has had to leave her home in the Chin highlands of Burma to go to a place far away.  However she is being obedient to God and in constant prayer to be used by him.

I do not wish the evils perpetuated by the Myanmar military junta on any people but God can even use the murdeous intent of Satan to accomplish His purposes.
