Our Heavenly Father knows how to Give good Gifts
Kay and I watched a bit of a 1983 comedy called “Christmas Story” last night. Ralphie the child character was wanting a Bee Bee gun for Christmas. His mother said no, it could put your eye out. Ralphie opened all his presents on Christmas morning and there was no Bee Bee gun. Then at his lowest point, his father said, look behind the desk, there is one more present. Raphie got the gift he most desired. That moment captured for me the kindness of an earthly father toward his son.
Last summer I stopped by the home of Pa Klay for a visit. We were talking about this and that and he asked me, how much money for an electric wheel chair. You see Pa Klay lost both of his legs in Burma (often the citizens are used as human mine sweepers). Well I told him thousands of dollars, more than a starter used car. So we dropped the subject.
Last week, one of our FWC parishioners, Ed Winslow called and said he had a client that wanted to donate an electric wheel chair to our church for use by a needy person. So we were able to line that donation up with Pa Klay. Chaw White, Ta Mla and Cal Bin helped to pick up and unload the chair and get it into the house. After we get a ramp built to his house he will be much more independent, able to ride the handicap accessible buses to GTCC where he studies English. God is so good, all the time!
