Historic Karen Service Kicks Off
Today at First Wesleyan Church in High Point, we had Gov. Mike Huckabee as guest speaker in the American service but on the second floor we also had a historical event. The Karen Burmese, under the leadership of Pastor One Kiss launched their first independent worship service done completely in Sqaw Karen. Because of the nature of the day, all of the breakout southeast Asian services (Lao, Chin, and Karen) regrouped to watch a live television feed of Gov. Huckabee’s sermon. Next week the Karen will begin a preaching schedule with the Burmese. Below are pictures of the Karen leaders, Klo Say, Nyein and One Kiss getting organized and the people gathering in for worship.
