Heaven is for Real

I just finished reading “Heaven is for Real” by Todd Burpo. It is a story of a family that went through a fiery trial involving their 3 year old who nearly died.  While hospitalized the child, Colton, spent time in heaven.  This is the story of a 2-3 year period of unfolding evidence reflecting the child’s time of sitting on the lap of Jesus.  #1 on NY Times best seller list.  The parents graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan University where I taught in 1985-6.  The father is a Nebraska Wesleyan Church pastor.

Woven through the story line is reference to a young Lithuanian-American girl, Akaine Kramarik that Colton says gave a correct depiction of Jesus in her painting entitled “Prince of Peace”.  Click here to view a CNN clip about her.  Her inspiration come from her own visit to heaven.

About johnmcmurphy

Jesus is first and foremost in my life. He is above all religions, principalities and powers. In everything He must increase and I must decrease. Into the hands of Jesus, God has placed life and death, truth and purity. strength and meaning. Only in a growing understanding of the triune God, and his son Jesus can I do, breathe, exist and serve. I have a Bachelor's degree in Bible from Vennard College, a Master's in Social Science from Azusa Pacific University and a Ph. D. from Ohio State in Family Relations and Human Development. I am an ordained pastor involved in cross-cultural ministry. I am currently employed at several colleges as an instructor.
