Marking the milestone of 13 years of public education, 1000’s of students walked to the front of the auditorium and received their diploma at the High School graduations held yesterday at the Greensboro Coliseum. At 8:30 PM the sixth Guilford County graduation ceremony held on Saturday commenced. Among the Central High School graduates I counted at least four Burmese who walked to the platform for congratulations and to receive their diploma. People I knew included Ba Sho Gay, son of Way New New; Po Tu Tu daughter of Pa Doh and Ther Gay Paw; Mu Htoo; and Bibi Thakbal daughter of Peng Len and Nu Nu. This marks a milestone in the relocation experience of these Burmese families.
