The First Christmas Adventure

It was a time of travel in the Holy land.  Mary and Joseph had to go to Bethlehem to register in a census.   Mary was about to have a baby.   She rode on a donkey to this rural town only to find there were no more rooms available for the night.   They were offered a stable and so she gave birth to the King of Kings….in  a stable.  But God can make the most lowly circumstances perfectly fit His eternal plan.  Indeed the incarnation went just as planned in eternity past.

Well. we’ve been keeping you updated on another family that traveled during the holidays.   They came to America and were strangers in a foreign land.  However the people of our community have come together to set them up in a house and help them launch their American dream.   Today Peng Len Thakbal, Phon Theng, Peter, Mary, and Steven installed window blinds, made a needed frame for the microwave, spread out an area rug and cleaned the gutters on the Bawi residence.   Yesterday Sang Awi bought them a rice cooker.  Last night Thang Tlang helped Steven with numbering the mailbox, and arranging furniture.   One of the members of our First WC family is preparing a gift card to Food Lion for the Bawi’s, another is bringing in some children’s toys by Sunday.  All we can say is “Welcome home, Bawi family, welcome home”.   Sounds like the move-in day is this weekend.  This is the ninth post of the Christmas Adventure series.

About johnmcmurphy

Jesus is first and foremost in my life. He is above all religions, principalities and powers. In everything He must increase and I must decrease. Into the hands of Jesus, God has placed life and death, truth and purity. strength and meaning. Only in a growing understanding of the triune God, and his son Jesus can I do, breathe, exist and serve. I have a Bachelor's degree in Bible from Vennard College, a Master's in Social Science from Azusa Pacific University and a Ph. D. from Ohio State in Family Relations and Human Development. I am an ordained pastor involved in cross-cultural ministry. I am currently employed at several colleges as an instructor. If you need to get in touch with me, just leave a comment, I screen all comments and so you can leave further contact information which I will erase before it is published. -John
